Family Weekend Check-In

9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Main Level, MU Student Center

Pick-up your family’s pre-ordered items, such as tickets, t-shirts and spirit items. Identification will be required for packet pick-up. Families not arriving by 7 p.m. on Friday may pick-up packets on Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

Mizzou Volleyball vs. Austin Peay

11:00 a.m., Hearnes Center

Come enjoy the home opening weekend for the volleyball tigers as they host the Mizzou Invitational. Opponents for the weekend include the Governors of Austin Peay, Northern Iowa Panthers, University of Missouri Kansas City Kangaroos, and the Boise State Broncos. Discount tickets ($5) will be available as part of Family Weekend registration. Students who have an All-sport pass will be able to enter using that and will not require a ticket purchased through Family Weekend registration. Tickets will also be available at the gate for $8.

 

Tiger Fun Fest

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Kuhlman Court North of the MU Student Center

Happy Family Weekend Tigers! Stop by for some Tiger Fun and enjoy free carnival snacks (while supplies last) and games. Test your knowledge of Mizzou through trivia. Sponsored by Campus Activities Programming Board.

 

Coffee with a Cop

Noon – 5:00 p.m., Family Weekend Check-in, Main Level, MU Student Center

Come meet and learn about your University Police Department and enjoy some free coffee or lemonade. Officers will be there to answer any questions you might have.

 

Missouri School of Journalism Family Weekend Open House

1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Reynolds Journalism Institute

The Missouri School of Journalism will host an open house for students in journalism and their families. A variety of presentations and self-guided activities will be available. Guests can pick up a list of options in the reception area of the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the School of Journalism.

 

#explore Geography Open House

2:00 – 3:30 p.m., 216 Stewart Hall

Experience virtual reality, fly drones, and play competitive GeoGuesser on the big screen! And…meet the Prussian polymath and geographer Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1869), whose monumental, Kosmos—which is based on even more epic adventures—is the foundation of the discipline of geography today. This year marks the 250th anniversary of von Humboldt’s birthday, and we are celebrating with an Open House that showcases geography coursework, field trips, internships, study abroad, and more. Come join us for pizza and geography swag, and register to win door prizes. Sponsored by the Department of Geography.

 

Football Friday!

Ellis Library Open House with Historic Tours

2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Ellis Library North Entrance

Did you know Ellis Library is over 100 years old? Mizzou students have been studying, researching, working and socializing in the campus’s main library since 1915. Visit Ellis Library to see how students research and study in a 21st century library. You can also take a historic tour of the building to learn about the different spaces and changes over time. Tours will start on the hour and the half hour with the last tour starting at 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by MU Libraries.

 

Study Abroad Open House

3:00 – 5:00 p.m., International Center, N52 Memorial Union

Stop by the International Center to learn about the wide array of study abroad options available to MU students across all academic disciplines. Study abroad advisors will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be provided. Sponsored by the International Center.

 

Photos with Truman the Tiger

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., MU Student Center, Main Level

Truman has agreed to make a special appearance at Family Weekend check-in. Stop by check-in Friday afternoon for a chance to have your photo taken with Truman. There is not cost and the photo will be emailed to you. Sponsored by Student Health and Well-Being.

 

It’s Back to School with the College of Education

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Townsend Hall Lobby & Reflector

Not Back to School Night but rather an afternoon to mingle with Associate Dean John Lannin, faculty, staff, and student representatives from the College of Education for an Open House. Meet other Education students and families and learn about the opportunities available to students in our college and at Mizzou. After school snacks will be provided. College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Ice Cream Social

Sinclair School of Nursing Open House

3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sinclair School of Nursing

Join the faculty and staff of the Sinclair School of Nursing for an opportunity to experience nursing activities in an innovative simulation facility, say “Goodbye” to the building before construction begins for the new School of Nursing, and shop for MU nursing gear while learning about our nursing student organizations. Guests may start checking in at 3:30 p.m. in the foyer of the nursing school and are encouraged to arrive before 4:00 p.m. in order to have time to fully enjoy the activities and light refreshments. The Open House will come to a close with an interactive presentation by Associate Dean, Dr. Robin Harris, at 5:15 p.m., and door prizes! Sponsored by the Sinclair School of Nursing.

 

Mizzou Alternative Breaks and Service Programs Open House

4:00 – 5:00 p.m., Leadership Auditorium, 2nd Floor MU Student Center

Stop by Leadership Auditorium to learn about going on a service trip with Mizzou Alternative Breaks, as well as the wide array of other service programs and opportunities available to all MU students. Mizzou Engineering Open House

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., W1025 Lafferre Hall, near Ketcham Auditorium

Come take a tour of the renovated Lafferre Hall space, meet other Engineering students and families, and mingle with our faculty and staff. Light refreshments will be provided. Sponsored by the College of Engineering.

 

*Family Weekend Climb

4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Venture Out Complex, location details at https://ventureout.missouri.edu/about/location/ (not walking distance from campus)

Mizzou students and their families are invited to Venture Out to climb the 60 foot Alpine Tower! The Alpine Tower is a fun, challenging, and safe experience for anyone that is new to climbing or an experienced climber. Students and their families will learn how to belay one another to facilitate trust and communication in an exciting and new way. Cost is $20 per climber. Participation at Venture Out is limited to people ages 6 and up. This event is open house-style, which means you can show up any time between 4 and 7 p.m. Expect to be at Venture Out for about an hour. When you arrive, you’ll be asked to fill out a waiver. Participants under age 19 need their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Parents need to stay with young participants. Please wear closed-toe shoes (no Chaco’s), dress for the weather, bring a water bottle with water, and wear a hair style you can wear a helmet with. We share our parking lot – please do NOT park in the green-painted parking spaces or you may be towed. More information at https://ventureout.missouri.edu/. Marching Mizzou “Mizzou Gold” Friday Rehearsal

4:15 – 6:00 p.m. Marching Mizzou Practice Field (Champions Drive and Providence Point)

Families and guests are invited to view our “Mizzou Gold” Friday Rehearsal as they prepare for their second show and game of the season at Saturday night’s game against the Southeast Missouri Redhawks. Don’t miss your chance to get an up-close and personal view of Marching Mizzou so you can see firsthand how hard they work to prepare for Game Day on Faurot Field. Feel free to bring a lawn chair which you will be able to place on the grass area around the practice field on a first come first served basis. Standing view will be available on the perimeter of the practice area, but for your safety and that of the Marching Mizzou members you will not be allowed into the active rehearsal area. Entry into parking lots south of Stadium Boulevard ends at 5:00 p.m. so if you want to drive to this event you will need to enter before that time. All vehicles must be removed from parking lots south of Stadium Boulevard by midnight or they will be towed at the owners’ expense. Sponsored by Marching Mizzou.

Students’ families, including those under 18, can come enjoy the Tiger Grotto, track and sport courts together at MizzouRec’s Family Night. Flick on Faurot: Avengers: Endgame

Grab your blankets, friends and family and head on out to Faurot Field to enjoy Avengers: Endgame on a really, really, really BIG screen! Watch our heroes gather their allies and re-assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to a universe in ruins. As a bonus, you will have an opportunity to kiss the fifty yard line, a time-honored Mizzou tradition. No outside food or beverages allowed with the exception of factory-sealed bottles of water. Parking is available in lots surrounding the stadium, BUT you must move your car immediately after the movie. Towing begins promptly at midnight to prepare for football game day.
