The Office of Parent Relations recommends that visiting family members reserve a hotel room as soon as possible as the hotels in Columbia typically sellout over the summer. Please keep in mind that Family Weekend falls during a home football game so Columbia will be very busy! Below are some resources that you may find useful in securing a hotel room in Columbia or the surrounding area.
Our first recommendation is to check out the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau’s list of local Columbia hotels. Online you will find hotel locations, websites, addresses, and contact information. The Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau tracks hotel availability during Family Weekend and you can call them at 573-874-2489 if you are having difficulty finding a hotel.
The highest concentration of hotels in Columbia can be found at the connecter interchange of I-70 and U.S. Route 63. Campus is located Southwest of this area and can be reached by taking U.S. Route 63 South to Stadium Boulevard West. Hotels in this area can reach the University in approximately 5-10 minutes.
If you are unable to secure a hotel in Columbia do not worry! There are a number of nearby cities within about 30 minutes that offer hotel accommodations!
Jefferson City our state capital has a number of hotels available and is a short 35-minute drive south of Columbia on U.S. Route 63. Other nearby towns with hotels include Holts Summit, Fulton, and Mexico.
Boonville and Kingdom City also offer hotels and can be options for you and your family. These cities are located off I-70 and around about 20 minutes away from Columbia. If bed and breakfast options interest you and your family then Rocheport offers a number of locations to stay. Rocheport is approximately 15 minutes West of Columbia.
